Paris Baguette @ JEM

Paris Baguette the famous bakery that sounds like it is a French bakery but turns out its actually one of the top bakery in Korea.

So lucky for the west side people as Paris Baguette open its second outlet ( First outlet at Wisma Atria) at newly open JEM mall. Weeeeheeeeee for me
I love how they display mostly their products and thats the way you need to pass by to make order and payment. Seriously everything look so good and I usually want to try everything!

The first time I went, I tried out mostly things that are displayed. Lets just say I was so super duper disappointed. The prices are pretty expensive and the taste wasn't really there.
BUT
I was so glad I went back to try out the things in their menu. It was Y-U-M-M-Y. I mean seriously I was so super upset during the first trip at the taste, the price and we had to wait 15 mins to get a sit. Oh its free seating so if there is a lot of people, if there are many people waiting too, kinda need to snatch the table when somebody finally leave.

Came here to try the menu item but as I was passing by the display, this caught my eyes. Queen's Muffin ($3.50) It is actually blueberry muffin with a crust and blueberry jam with pieces of blueberry on top. Great buy! It was really moist and there were blueberry at the bottom part of the muffin too. The jam was not too overwhelming and it went great with the plain vanilla cake part. Having those chunks of blueberry popping adds texture and flavor. Yum yum! Plus the price is pretty ok also.

After payment, they will send anything that is ordered from the menu to you.

This is the Mango Latte ($9.00) which is found at the "Fresh Fruit Juice" section at the menu. It is freshly made mango puree mixed with milk. As you guessed, mango puree and milk would taste totally good, looks pretty too.

The item that made me revive all my hopes on Paris Baguette arrived! This their PB Style Homemade Dynamite Burger ($17.00) This is a legit 9 layers burger. First you get the top bread, a layer of sauce that taste similar to BBQ sauce but the milder version, super crispy onion ring pieces, strip of bacon, melted cheese, beef patty that is super juicy, tomato, cabbage, bottom bun. Wedges served on the side with chili sauce on a saucer.
WHATTT?!
One great burger isn't it?! Quite big portion so it would be alright for two. Not totally full but filled.

Definitely cannot forget to talk about their Royal Pudding which is why everybody is talking about Paris Baguette. The right is the Original one and the left is the Mango one. They have a lot of flavors but except for the original one, the other flavors varies everyday. Really creamy and smooth and a thin layer or caramel sauce at the bottom of the bottle. Its really good but I personally think its a bit expensive. Its $4.00 for the original and $4.50 for the other assorted flavors if I didn't remember wrongly. Still, its worth a try!

The outlet at JEM have lesser seats than Wisma Atria. I try to avoid going at peak hour so that there will be seats available. They have Korean employees that might be a bit slow in taking your orders during payment, so kinda be patience with them and check your change just in case.

Yellow Submarine @ Toa Payoh

Yellow Submarine is a fast food chain that is famous for their cheese steak and cheese fries. It is a less than 5mins walk from Toa Payoh Mrt Station. I think this is pretty famous around the neighborhood because when we reach there, it was about three quarter filled with people.

After searching and walking for a bit, this two level eatery is quite hard to miss.

I personally think that the concept of theme is cute. I mean look at the menu board, isn't it cute?

After ordering, you will have to wait for your food behind the counter. The number on your receipt will light up when food is served and it will be ready for collection.

I ordered the Yellow Submarines Classic Meal ($9.90) that comes with the Cheese Fries and a Drink. The other order is the Oregano Submarine Meal ($9.90) that comes with the Cheese Fries and a Drink
The Oregano Submarine is chunks of chicken that is seasoned with the herb oregano which I think makes it very flavorful.
I love the Cheese Fries. I kinda think that they squeeze the cheese with care because not only the fries that are on the top level have cheese, the cheese did coated those on the lower part too. They gave plenty of cheese and every stick of my fries is coated with it.

The Yellow Submarines Classic is beef slices with onion and cheese sauce in the loaf of sandwich bread. I must say, this is a little more boring compared to the Oregano Sub because most flavor just comes from the cheese sauce and the cheese sauce is the same one that is in the Cheese Fries. So its a little boring cause the main and the side tasted the same. But then again, its my first time trying Cheesesteak so maybe it is suppose to be like this.

Wouldn't mind visiting this place again. I have to admit $10 for fast food is a little bit on the expensive side but as a cheese lover, maybe occasionally will do no harm hahahaha. From the two type of sub I tried, I would recommend the Oregano Submarine instead of their "Must Try" Yellow Submarines Classic.

Everything with Fries @ Orchard Central

There was a time where Everything with Fries have been a trend in a sense that the period of time it was launched, it was the topic to many people. Some background of EwF is that it is actually a cafe established by the owner of Awfully Chocolate which only sells desserts.
Finally the day arrive for me to personally try it. We visit the outlet at Orchard Central. It is the self service type of concept which is something similar to MOS Burger or Pastamania. Find your own seats, order at the counter, get the number board and the food will be serve to you when its ready.
A $9.90 meal is offered that include any type of burger , fries and a drink under the "Cold Drink" category of the menu

I had the Har Jeong Kai Burger with Original Fries. The word Har Jeong Kai is actually Prawn paste so the meat is coated with this paste and deep fried into this patty. Its crispy and nice but I have to say its a little on the salty side. I watch my carbs intake so I only ate the top bun. I guess it will be less salty if you eat it like how a burger should be eaten. grab, squeeze a little to flatten and in it goes into the mouth. I am a person that throw away the seasoning package for Macdonald shakers fries whether if its the seaweed, cheese or the curry flavor, its all a no no for me. This is why I went for the Original Fries but wait.. it is coated with seasoning as well.

Zhi Qing ordered the Bacon Cheese Omelette Burger with Sour Cream and Onion Fries. I prefer the taste of her fries. Its less salty and tasted like eating sour cream chips so it was good.

Claire ordered the Lamb Burger with Curry Fries. When I eat the fries, there is a powdery texture left in the mouth but the curry flavoring was flavorful and not spicy. Claire said the patty was a little tough.
Top up $5 to the $9.90 meal and get a dessert from their dessert menu which includes their "Must Try" Nutella Tart ($6.90). Yum yum! this is really good. The crust was crunchy and I believe the main ingredient is crushed Oreos. The filing was smooth and rich and the Nutella can definitely be tasted. Thumbs up fpr dessert!

All prices are inclusive of GST and there is no service charge. If I were to try EwF again I wouldn't mind paying the service charge and check out their outlet which is not the self service style. The people in this outlets seems a bit clumsy because first they wanted to collect the number board without serving my friend's order and the way the employee asked to see the receipt was not very polite. When she found out that it was their side fault of forgetting the order, all she said was "wait ah" and walked away. Secondly was when I collect the dessert I think the guy overheated the tart because an amount of chocolate was literally melted to the side of the container. Wait...Was it even suppose to be heated? Not so sure about that. I wouldn't mind trying their Tandoori Burger along with Garlic Fries the next time I visit another outlet.
