DAY 1: FREE & EASY JAPAN and thoughts, many thoughts (Haneda Airport & Citadines Shinjuku) 26 Nov 2015

Can you sense my excitement from the full caps title. It is already April 2016 and the idea of blogging my travelling experience is so that one day I can look back and be like, yes yes this brings back memories. Pardon me future self if I miss out some things definitely will happen I have a goldfish memory

I must say the journey of planning a trip is never easy, for me at least. Being a very detailed person it bugs me to have no plans or if things didn't go as plan. Who am I kidding, I am lazy as well I was so glad that even though there were lost moments and a lot, A LOT of time wasted for walking extra miles to realize hey we could have reach here half an hour earlier if we took the right turn instead of the left turn. Welcome to Japan or should I say anywhere else other then Little Red Dot Singapore.

Being a foodie myself, every travel trip is not complete if I did not manage to try the country's most famous restaurants/food item. I am the type that go crazy in places like supermarkets, convenience stores and even kitkat shops. Yes that's me.
Have you tried Haagen Dazs Mont Blanc flavor? Yes
Hey you know about latest trend? Erm.. You mean like those croissant filled fillings at Antoinette

Anyway, lets just start.

Just a little background, Japan to us is like a BIG trip. Not like those nearby or more affordable getaway whereby the air ticket and hotel is booked with almost zero thinking. This took almost a year. It all started because SQ tickets were cheap so we bought it about 8 months in advance. How much you ask? About 600 to and fro per person. Thank God that with such a long period all was good and we could proceed with the journey as of planned.

One thing about free and easy is that YOU MUST HAVE INTERNET CONNECTION. Like dude imagine being lost and you can't even google map? That is a real and happening phobia man.
We decided to rent a pocket wifi from Changi Recommend. Japan one goes for only 1GB per day. Cheapest of course. Sufficient for minimal usage. No complaints.
Just a small note, as it was our first time borrowing a pocket wifi we did not know the exact location except whatever map that was provided on the website. Never ever ask any staff working in Changi Airport for directions as its better to get it from the Information Counter itself. What happen was that we did a self check-in and enquire over where is the Changi Recommend counter in T3 those service staff that were stationed at there told us it is inside the departure to our horror, no. Changi Recommend works in a way that when you order the pocket wifi and after selecting your dates etc you have to book an "appointment" on where and the time you want to collect. You cannot be like ok my appointment is T3 counter and you expect it to be or like they have supplies at T2 counter. So anyway the T3 counter is outside and we are inside crap but luckily we arrive way earlier than we were suppose to as we wanted to hang out and slowly make our way to the belt after checking in. Heng ah, they were able to transfer the pocket wifi to T2 which is the only Terminal that has Changi Recommend inside.
Not even in Japan and woah almost lost our only connection there. Laughs

Welfie first, worry later

Making our way to T2 in those mini LRT like train

We arrived in Haneda T1 Airport at 9:50pm. At first we wanted to take a public transport down to our hotel but in the end we decided to hire a driver.

First thing we did was to get some drinks from the vending machine then we headed in our mini van to Citadines Shinjuku. Highly recommend if you are looking for a cosy place just to sleep in yet super affordable and convenient.

Nearest station was Shinjuku-gyoemmae M10 (red coloured). One thing about this neighborhood is that literally in less than 3 mins walk you will be able to find places that sell don. Which are basically rice with mains on top. Just beside the apartment entrance there is 7 eleven as well. Woohoooo

Our first meal in Tokyo.
