Day 3 - Taichung

The rain continues..

Day with driver

Hearty breakfast, Taiwanese Braised Pork Rice. Yums

Actually we were suppose to go Flower Marker and Miyahara Ophthalmology but since it was raining so hard and our driver had some issue with the car, we decided to just have a chill day.
After breakfast we went to 85°C Bakery Cafe which is the Starbucks of Taiwan.
Its everywhere along the streets

It was raining so the best option was to go to a departmental stores yet we were too early for it sobs
On the way to the departmental store, jam. I am getting used to it already.

We then head to their local supermarket (like our NTUC).
Thank god there is Diaso because I all the high sodium night market food made me lose my double eyelid which my gosh, I panic a little.
At the supermarket I saw the biggest watermelon I have ever seen in real life.

The rain stopped. Woot

Our driver bought us to their local zi cha place.

No night market today as we headed to hotel early as the next day we are gonna check out and travel to Yilan

Side note, I got my double eyelid back teehee

Day 2 Taichung - Rainbow Village, Cing Jing Farm and The Old England Manor

Man.. Today was just gloomy

Day with driver

Started off the morning with super hearty breakfast.
Taiwan is famous for their Jian Bing (煎饼) which in Singaporean-can-relate-context it just taste like prata with egg and spring onion, ham and whatever that is available for the combination. Not too bad but I guess having the option of prata I would rather have that drenched with fish cali instead (see what I did there?)
We had xiao long bao also. Not too bad but I prefer my XLB to have skin so thin that only the ultimate delicate pinch of the chopstick will be able to lift it without having the precious soup broth to be anywhere else but be gravitated at the bottom

We then headed to Rainbow Village. Interesting place with all the graffiti (art) drawn solely by this then soldier guy when he was the only one left in the village which later on people began to take notice and had it campaigned. Now it is a popular tourist attraction in Taichung. There is this area where souvenirs are sold and the artist was there! I think he is at his 90s already. Pretty interesting history

The sun did not stay for long.
We headed for our journey up the mountain for the farm. Gosh, barely a quarter of the journey we were stuck in a jam that lasted for 3hours /input soul leaving body emoji/
We had a little pit stop after 2hours, got some ice cream and took some photos. There was no rain but the dark clouds were visibly seen

Finally we reached at 3pm when we left the Rainbow Village at 11am! Guess what, the rain decides to arrive as well. It was so heavy that we could not see any scenery. Wah pianggg the rage
We decided not the buy the admission ticket. To make the sacrifice more worth it we ate Goat Milk's ice cream in exchange for not being able to see any goat.
Nothing can stop us from taking welfie. I am glad iphone now comes with waterproof functions

你们评评理,在新加坡看haze的情景一模一样啊

We reach the Old England Manor which from what I know the stay and afternoon tea inside is quite pricey so usually people only come here to look at the structures of the buildings and take pictures from outside which is allowed.

Spend the evening at Fengjia night market.
Dan huang ge never ends

Taiwan FREE & EASY – Taichung, Yilan and Taipei (Day 1 Taichung - Fengjia Night Market)

Our flight got delayed for an hour+ due to maintenance issue. Oh whyyyy
We only manage to get a flight timing that will only reach Taoyuan International Airport at 6ish followed by a 3 hours’ drive to Taichung.
With the delay, we reached our hotel at around 10:30pm
Took EVA air for the first time. Taiwan’s airplane. Not bad but hey, SQ FTWWW

But man, the mixed corns and beans were super duper good! I remembered asking "you want?" *shakes head* /mini celebratory moment as I ate my second share from Joab's meal/

Finally reached. We stayed in “Green Hotel”. Highly recommended, clean comfortable and pretty convenient. It is about a 7 mins walk to Fengjia Night Market’s main street

No time to waste, we stick to the original plan and headed to Fengjia Night Market

I don't really like the Chicken Cutlets in Taiwan, the marinate have this very distinctive taste, which unfortunately is not tasty to me.
The "Clams" can be missed. So so only
"Porky Box" is fried pork cutlet with dressing of your choice placed on top of shredded cabbage and corn on the side. This was suppose to be good. The previous time I was here, we ate this two days straight but this time, I don't know... maybe we were pretty late so we sort of got the leftovers. It was cold and not crispy :( buttttttt still a must try because it is something special.
Tried the famous chopchopchop ice cream rolls concept that debuted from Thailand to almost being seen everywhere now. First time trying and its pretty good. Cream and cookies, perfect combi
Must eat the whole "Fried Squid". Super good and cheap also. If I am not wrong it was about 80NTD which is less than $4SGD

Satisfied with our exploding belly, we headed back at around 1:30am

Gudetama is super hawt stuff here. If you know me I am the Mr Egg fan.
蛋黄哥 is his chinese name, which isn't it quite funny? LOLOLOL
