Krispy Kreme @ Tangs Orchard

Since the opening of Krispy Kreme, it has been the talk of many people. Its a love-hate relationship. Some people are willing to queue for hours just for donuts while others think its plain stupidity to be in the craze for Krispy Kreme donut and its not really that good, its just the "in thing" now.

So...

I am one of them that went to queue. Hahaha I was lucky on that day because the queue was not very long. I reach there about 5pm and there were just about 20-30 people in front of me.

I must say Krispy Kreme was definitely well prepared for the crowd because they have people stationed at different parts of the queue line giving out brochure so that while waiting we can decide what we would like to have. When we reach, they took our orders and ask for an initial then we walk pass this food porn moment of where all the donuts flavor are displayed.

After the donuts display section, it is payment and collection time. Basically the donuts are split into two pricing. The Original Glazed ($2.60) and the Assorted Varieties ($2.95). They have express line for people that want to get dozen of Original Glazed ($23.40) and dozen of Assorted Varieties ($26.50). It is cheaper in dozen however for the Assorted Varieties, the flavors are already pre-packed.

Glazed Vanilla Cake to be honest it still has a donut texture. Soft but not as moist as how a cake should usually be. I would rather get the Original Glazed instead of this cause it taste pretty similar.

Out of the four I purchase and the flavors I have tried before, I love this! It is the Cappuccino Franco. The filling remind me so much of Roti Boy that coffee flavored bun. Creamy and sweet coffee filling in a donut = Best combination! Coffee lover, give this a go!

Due to many blessed occasion, I get to try Krispy Kreme before it arrive in Singapore. I have tried almost more than half of the flavors that are offered however I wanted to try Red Velvet and New York Cheesecake the most. Above is Red Velvet and the bottom is New York Cheesecake. Not the best I was expecting.
To me a Red Velvet is only called a Red Velvet if it has cream cheese icing if not its just a pastry that is tinted red. Yes, the white icing on top of it is not cream cheese. However when I compare this to the Glazed Vanilla Cake, its a tad bit more bitter so I think there might be cocoa powder in it which is another component of a Red Velvet. Plus point.

New York Cheesecake was disappointing. If I were to be blind folded and given this, I will never guess that the filing is New York Cheesecake or even any cheesecake. This filling is sour and I couldn't taste any cheesecake cheese taste. Oh mannn I was sure having great hopes for this.

Personally Original Glazed is still the top 1 for me, followed by Cinnamon Apple Filled and Cappuccino Franco. The filling for Cinnamon Apple Filled is like the gooey filling found in apple pies. Can't go wrong. Yum! I am not a donut person but I love the donuts by Krispy Kreme. I still remember the time I first tried it, I never look at donuts the same way again. However I must admit that $2.60 for one is too expensive but that is just how the standard of living in here is like. Time to time I will still buy it, hopefully the queue get shorter.
